The Asia capable teacher professional learning pathway

Why is Asia capability important?
An understanding of Asia equips young Australians to be active and informed citizens working together to build harmonious local, regional and global communities.
 
Asia capability contributes to Australia’s social, intellectual and creative capital. It builds understanding of the diversity of cultures and peoples living in Australia, fosters social inclusion and is vital to the prosperity of Australia.
What is Asia capability?
The idea of Asia capability is that by the time they leave school, a strong cohort of young Australians will speak an Asian language and all students will have knowledge, skills and understanding of the histories, geographies, arts and literature of the diverse countries of Asia.
