Asia Education Foundation plays an important role in commissioning, producing and publishing local and international research.

This research helps underpin development of innovative policy for Asian languages and studies, places Asia capability and intercultural understanding on the Australian Curriculum map, and demonstrates 'what works' and 'what is possible' in supporting the building of curriculum for Asia capability.

Why Indonesia matters in our schools
In 2021, Asia Education Foundation with support from the Australia-Indonesia Institute at the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade released a new contemporary rationale to provide evidence highlight the current state of the study of Indonesian in schools and the significant opportunities for engaging with Indonesia and Bahasa Indonesia for young Australians.
